Founded in 2017, Yoinki is the brainchild of five socially conscious Australian’s that are changing how charities fundraise. After spending years working alongside the charity sector, the Yoinki team set out to improve the problems they had witnessed with conventional EFTPOS terminals. Armed with experience, feedback and a team of passionate entrepreneurs, Yoinki developed it’s world-first platform in Sydney, Australia.
Today, Yoinki has deployed thousands of mobile terminals which have helped charities to increase their fundraising, reduce costs and eliminate administration. Yoinki continues to work towards its vision of seeing a Yoinki terminal in the hands of every Australian charity worker.
Alex Debney is the Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Yoinki.
He began his career in banking and investments, but decided he wanted the challenge of building a company instead… While some days he regrets this decision, most of the time he is extremely passionate about delivering innovation to the social impact sector. Alex has Bachelor’s Degrees in engineering, finance and economics and volunteered with Engineers Without Borders while at university.
Alex manages stress with a terribly inconsistent approach to meditation, and persists in the pursuits of creative writing, surfing and guitar despite a lack of any natural talent in these areas.
Todd Smith is the Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Yoinki.
He is a CFA charterholder who keeps the company running on a day-to-day basis, much to the delight of his co-founders. Todd ran a popular YouTube channel with hundreds of hours of educational content for high school students. With his passion for teaching he has also volunteered as a high school teacher. Prior to Yoinki Todd worked in banking and investments, and lectured in finance at The University of Melbourne, where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, and statistics (Honours).
When Todd isn’t keeping Yoinki running he enjoys spending time with his family, long walks on the beach, and casually reading astrophysics.
Conway Ying is the Chief Product Officer and co-founder of Yoinki.
Not content with simply studying at university, Conway created a scientific calculator with over 1.5 million downloads and hundreds of thousands of users in the developing world. He previously worked in Google’s marketing team and as a software engineer with Microsoft. Conway has also volunteered his time as a strategy consultant for NSW Health and St John’s Ambulance.
In the spare time that he doesn’t actually have, Conway likes to tinker with generative machine learning models and experiment with different forms of meditation.
Mason Feehan is the Head of Partnerships at Yoinki
Mason Feehan is the Head of Partnerships at Yoinki and employee number 4, joining us in July 2019. With a passion for fashion, music and a sustainably produced IPA, he’s spent the past 5 years working in both the craft beer and fashion & accessories industry – specialising in Sales and Marketing. With a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Marketing and Innovation & Entrepreneurship from the University of Auckland, Mason decided he’d put the latter of the majors to use, and jump into Yoinki – with the prospect of helping for purpose organisations a big motivator. In his spare time, he likes to think about growing his own indigo from his 4m2 courtyard to dye clothing (Work in progress), listening to his vinyl collection and purchasing clothes that had past lives as military bags and tents.
